Centramatic Wheel Balancers utilize centrifugal force to automatically distribute free-moving weights (dura metal and synthetic fluid) within the balancer, achieving perfect balance. When a wheel assembly is out of balance, it causes deflection via the springs or tire sidewalls. The balancer’s weights sense this deflection and move opposite the heavy points to balance the entire assembly, including wheels, tires, drums, hubs, and even mud, snow, or ice stuck to the wheels.

Pre-balancing is generally not required. However, if vibration persists after installation, a computer balance of the problematic position may reveal issues such as a mis-mounted or defective tire, a bent wheel, or other out-of-round conditions that balancing alone cannot correct. Wheel bearings should also be checked and defective parts replaced.
